Letter to Patients: New Guidelines Following COVID-19 Pandemic

Dear valued patient,

We hope this letter finds you and your family in good health. Our community has been through a lot over the last few months, and all of us are looking forward to resuming our normal habits and routines. While many things have changed, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to your safety and dental health.

Our office follows infection control recommendations made by the ADA, the CDC and OSHA. We follow the activities of these agencies so that we are up-to-date on any new rulings or guidance that may be issued. We do this to make sure that our infection control procedures are current and adhere to each agencies’ recommendations.

We are very excited to announce that our practice will be opening as of 6/1/2020 for elective dentistry appointments.  We will begin scheduling regular hygiene visits on 6/8/2020.   

Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients. That might mean that you’re offered fewer options for scheduling your appointment. We will also allow greater time between patients to reduce waiting times for you. Please be kind and patient with us as we work out all new protocols.

You may see some changes when it is time for your next appointment. We made these changes to help protect our patients and staff. For example:
⦁ Our office will communicate with you beforehand to ask some screening questions. You’ll be asked those same questions again when you are in the office.
⦁ Upon arrival to our office for your appointment, we ask that you wait in your car. Call our office when you arrive and someone will direct you from there. Please remain in your car until a staff member comes outside to direct you.
⦁ A staff member will also be taking your temperature upon arrival.
⦁ Please wear a mask at all times, unless requested to remove, in our office.
⦁ We ask that no one, but the patient, comes into the office. For elderly or younger patients, we understand that this is not always feasible. If a guardian needs to accompany the patient, we ask that they wear a mask at all times.
⦁ We have hand sanitizer that we will ask you to use when you enter and exit the operatory. You will also find some in the reception area and other places in the office for you to use as needed.
⦁ If you test positive for COVID-19 at anytime after your appointment in our office, please make us aware so we can take necessary precautions.
